We presented today. Yoke ee gave some constructive comments and asked if we could do the things we are to do in order to make the video a success. She said it was good that we're researching and trying to learn something we weren't taught, for example using the green screen.

Day 16

I met up with my group and we prepared for the proposal and powerpoint. I worked on the script, Alana did the call sheet and timeline while Kangling found the visuals for moodboard and visual references. After much evaluation, our group worked out the proposal and finally the powerpoint. We assigned each slides to each of us and rehearsed the presentation together, this way the presentation would be more balanced.

Day 15

We met up at 12plus to do our storyboarding and finish up our script. We went online to look for our background for the video. Kester said most of our video will be done using green screen and i hope we can do it if not we will be screwed. And after 3 hours we finally finished the storyboard and script.

today was the start of pre production, we have already finalized our idea and we started of with doing book research. we went to the library to find books on after effects and all. we will than start on our script followed by other things and by then we would be ready for interim 1.

We discussed about what we wanted to do and kester came up with great ideas so we decided to follow most of his ideas and just add on whatever we think would make our video better. We didn't really do anything else after that, the end.

Day 12

Phew what a relief, today was the day where the teams are to present their individual proposal. honestly i was so afraid that people might come out with the same idea, especially Rowell (he is like a major video student so most probably what i make up he is already able to do). Sorry if my idea somehow appeared like yours >.<

well we did our individuals i felt my team came well prepared today, most probably due to the fact that we watch the 1st batch and clean up our mistakes. honestly i was amazed at how much kang ling improved, he seems like he put alot of thought into the proposal which shows he is very concious of the project 1. alana did a excellent job on reseraching especially trailers and the subjects, when we combine ideas im sure we can make a good final proposal.

Day 11

today we had no class so we had 1 more day to prepare for our individual presentation tomorrow. we have to present our two ideas for the final product with research & analysis that led us to our design solution. i have more or less completed mine but i still have to add some stuffs which i lack. super nervous for tomorrow!!

Day 09

Called to LT 24, to listen and recieve the announconment that for the Final we are only allowed to use Video/Animation. Lecturer Wahidah once again went throught with the 4 MOI classes the design breif to make sure we understand. althought i felt it was somehow repeating but i understand why, it is because Wahidah cares for all of us and she hopes that we do not make mistakes.

Well after Wahidah finished she gave us a screening of the past year's MOI project 1. The projects were very unique in its own way, but one of them stood out very much which was the one selected for the open house. i was devestated when i found out that music and styles i intended to use and do were used by my seniors in the past year, especially when i had all the music out. i honestly never watched the open house video for MOI before thats why i was shock. now i am trying to change my style because i do not want to replicate my seniors style as it would seem like i am copying from them, designers have to be creative you know.[HaHa]

Day 08

Today was submission of the proposal for the first exercise. We (group 1) had our presentation on the council for third age. Our presentation lasted for about 15 to 20 minutes. I think we did fairly well because a lot effort was put into it for both the proposal and presentation. I felt that this was a learning exercise because from this group exercise we learnt a lot and it will help us before we start on our individual assignment because we can correct our error which we made in this exercise.

Day 07

After refining the proposal for the council for third age, we did a powerpoint presentation for tomorrow's presentation. We had to present our proposal in 15 minutes. We had much things to say and i think we would exceed the time limit.

When my group and I were doing the powerpoint presentation, other groups were in the same lab and they were noisy. I was annoyed.

Day 06

On day 06, we did the proposal. we first collected all the infomation and reserach and analysis them and sort them out accordingly. we then started placing the research together and patch up the 2 final proposals for our 3rd age exercise. the 3rd age exercise includes 1 carnival and 1 race.

In class today we went through with Siew Cheng on how to write a proposal.
there are 7 steps in total and we found out that there are 2 types of proposal, 1 for buinesness and another for design.
Several of the steps are
-design problem/statment
-research and analysis, target audience
-Proposal/meduim
-Objective
-Strategy
-Summary

Honestly its major pressure as the stakes are up for the exercise as the better 3 teams have more time to prepare their individual presentation the next tuesday, hopefully my team does well as 2 of us have Design history & Culture and it would be tedious if we had the eailer slots.

Day 05

Today was production day thus my group met up in the afternoon to discuss for our assignment due next wednesday. We compiled our research and evaluated them. Kangling researched on the different disabilities that is happening to the old people and the ways we should avoid them while planning for our programmes for the council for third age. Kester researched on the different kinds of programmes and activities and the benefits they will gets when they come for it. For me, I researched on the health hazards and precaution we should take while planning for the programmes indoor and outdoor. During the weekends, we will do more in depth research. :]

Day 04

Today we presented our idea to Siew Cheng. We only had one idea but Kester quickly came up with another proposal.

Kester really is a good talker, his ideas were flowing and he couldn't talk talking and explaining our ideas to Siew Cheng. She said that it was quite good and it sounds organized. I just hope we can pull it off and really impress her.

Day 03

Visit/Talk by Victric Thng

We reported to LT 24 at 9.15am for the talk.
Before the guest came we were to watch a collaboration of his short films for 50mins.
Thng's works are very sentimental, the one i enjoy the most was Locust.

I liked the feel of longing in that short film i guessed it was my favourite because of the homosexuality content but it was more deep for me as homosexuality is somewhat a taboo.

Later Thng arrived he gave us a talk about his films and the process he went through to become what he his now. He advise us on serveral things such as to appreciate criticisms and to make good friends while staying in the school for they might be ur partners and supporters in future. He told us about the essentials of film making and hopes that the film-makers from MOI can continue their legacy.

Third Age Exercise Progress

We are still on research stage where we are evaluating the relavant ideas to form the 2 proposals. To me the group is doing fine and working at a steady pace.

We had to gather at LT24 at 9.15am in the morning for someone that was from TDS 10 years ago. I later remember his name was Victric Thng.

At first, i thought giving up two hours of my sleeping time to watch films and listen to someone i don't really care was crazy but after watching some of the films, i find them really interesting and is not as boring as some of the local short films. Maybe one of the reasons is that it is not a typical drama, puppy love, your whole family die kind of film, but something more in-depth and you have to think about it before understanding what he was trying to express.

But i couldn't handle all of his films and because i had to wake up two hours earlier, i fell asleep and only woke up when the films had ended. I finally saw how he looked like, he had a really cool hairstyle that every(almost) secondary student had 5-6 years back.

I didn't really have any question for him, maybe because I'm not yet that much into making films but i will be, as animation is too much for me to handle. Anyway, i couldn't understand most of the things he was saying, but at least i tried to.

I remembered him asking the lecturers what happened to TDS during the past years as we haven't been domineering a competition in some country. He might have meant what were the lecturers doing, but hey who am i to interpret what was the meaning of his question.

I didn't regret giving up two hours of my sleep.

Day 2

Today we learn the steps of the design process and the roles of the designer. Our group also discuss our research for the council of third age exercise. I found that if the young and old people work together, share ideas, experience, build relationships and make connections, they will grow grater understanding if what is it like to be young, or grow older.

Day One

Today we gathered at LT25 and we were briefed on what were we going to do for the next two blocks during MOI P1. I wasn't really listening and the brief was repeatedly interrupted by people who were late and it was very annoying. Now i understand how annoying i was whenever i was late for class. After the brief we went to the classroom and we were told to research on the council of third age.

After Day one, i didn't really learn anything except that being late can be annoying for other people.
